Advisor of the Year FAQs
 
 1. What is the Chapter Advisor Award?
Every year, The SHRM Foundation presents the Advisor of the Year award to one student chapter advisor who is recognized for their outstanding service and leadership.

2. Who can nominate an advisor for the award?
  • Student chapter officers
  • Student chapters members
  • Former chapter members
  • Other faculty
  • SHRM professional members
  • Self-nominations

3. What are the judging criteria?

  • Length of service to the student chapter.
  • Advisor's contribution to the development of student leaders.
  • Innovative programs or projects conducted by the chapter.
  • Obstacles overcome (e.g. no HR major, etc.)
  • Involvement with other SHRM local and/or national activities.
  • Percentage of chapter members sitting for the Assurance of Learning Assessment.
  • Percentage of chapter members who are national SHRM members.
  • Consistency of chapter quality from year-to-year.

4. What does the winner receive?

  • A commemorative plaque
  • $1,000 cash award
  • Complimentary registration and travel funding up to $1,000 to attend the SHRM Annual Conference & Exposition
