SHRM CEO Hank Jackson In his blog today, SHRM CEO Hank Jackson pays tribute to SHRM’s generous Volunteer Leaders in recognition of National Volunteer Week. Year-round, at conferences, chapter meetings, learning events and on Capitol Hill, thousands of SHRM volunteers give their time and indispensable talents to ensure that our profession is visible and leading, as we enhance opportunities for HR professionals.
Elissa C. O'Brien, MS, SHRM-SCP, Vice President of MembershipThe week of April 23 – 29 we celebrate you – our volunteer leaders – during National Volunteer Week. We are thankful year-round for your volunteerism but next week we will take time to recognize your contributions of time and talents to your local community, the HR profession and SHRM. Whether you are a chapter president, special expertise panel member or serve in another role, your work contributes to the HR movement.
Throughout the week, we will highlight stories of commitment and achievements of SHRM volunteer leaders. You’ll receive a message from SHRM’s CEO, Hank Jackson, to kick off the week, followed by stories posted in a variety of ways via Twitter (#SHRM, #SHRMLeaders and #NVW), Facebook and the SHRM Blog.
Having served as a volunteer leader for SHRM in the past, as well as others on the Membership team, we know the challenges that come with balancing work, home and volunteer activities. We know it sometimes can be difficult, but your commitment and passion for giving back remains constant.
On behalf of the Membership team, I want to thank you for all you do! You are what makes our mission possible! I hope to see you at a local or national SHRM event sometime in the future.
Elissa O’Brien, MS, SHRM-SCP
Vice President, Membership
