Hi Kortney, We were able to get a local on-line gaming provider to help us host some games at a virtual happy hour event for our New Members. Everyone loved it and it didn't cost an arm-and-a-leg! -- Kindest regards, Kate Dashner Akron Area SHRM

Good for you if you were able to keep sponsors at full rate!  Our Chapter decreased the sponsorship rate in proportion to our attendance numbers; in our case, this meant a 50% reduction in sponsorship fees for virtual-only meetings. We hope to go back to normal pricing as soon as the pandemic allows ...

We're allowing our sponsors a 3-minute oral "commercial" on our ZOOM webinars before the meeting begins. We basically unmute them as an attendee and put their face up on the screen and it almost feels like the real thing! -- Kindest regards, Kate Dashner

I have not changed any of our policies to be specific to medical or recreational drugs, only that the drugs are legal and that there is reasonable suspicion that the injury may have occurred due to the use of the drug. ------------------------------ Kathleen Dashner SHRM-SCP Simple Hr Solutions LLC Hudson ...

Yes. We have such a person on our board, she does a great job! She does belong to National SHRM. Unless your by-laws state something specific against it, I see no problems with this. It's certainly HR related field of work, every once in awhile, we all need a great temp agency in our corner! -- Kindest ...

Hi Maria! I work with small employers as an outsourced HR department. Here's the trends we see, a little depends (I think) on the sophistication (or lack thereof) of their HRIS. Most of my clients are under 50 employees. Small employers (usually with less sophisticated HRIS) grant it all up front so ...

Hello Heather, This is a challenge. We are a 100% chapter with 300+ members.  We do track their National expiration; however, we have been told there is a 30-day grace period that National gives to designate a continuous membership renewal.  This gets even more complicated because National does not inform ...

Hi Karen, Go to SHRM.org Click on "COMMUNITIES" tab Under "VOLUNTEERS", click on "Volunteer Leader Resources Center" You will see a big header call "DEADLINES AND EVENTS". Here is where you can click to view the SHAPE report. My only suggestion?  The SHAPE report is rather basic.  If you really want ...

We have also had our ups and downs with HRCI credit approvals. We have a new certification chair who knows how to spin things as far as content approval, but they are SLOW. HRCI makes getting approval for business credits a challenge, and has for some time now. Our certification chair just got an email ...

Hi Everyone! I am trying to set up a safety video series for a new distribution center we are opening soon. I realize that safety is no laughing matter, but it seems like there are probably some videos which drive home the point in a lightly "entertaining" format. Any suggestions on where to look? - ...

I think all National SHRM events were automatically "pushed" onto your website.  So any Conferences, i.e., annual National, Diversity, Legislative,, etc... will need to be picked up and added. ------------------------------ Kathleen Dashner SHRM-SCP Simple HR Solutions President, Akron Area SHRM --- ...

Hello Jackie! Sorry it took so long to respond to your query, I wanted "the expert" of our Akron Area Student SHRM to respond to this directly.
